Easy Falafel and homemade Hummus

Falafel is a deep fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas. It is a traditional Middle East and Mediterranean dish often served with Hummus.

Hummus is a dip or spread made from boiled mashed chickpeas with tahini, lemon juice and garlic.

This is a simple homemade version.

Hope you find it easy to cook.

Tips before cooking:
  • Use good quality extra virgin olive oil
  • For falafel the soaked chickpeas must be drained completely to avoid too wet mixture
  • Incase the mixture is too wet you can add some flour but that may compromise the taste and texture
  • Refrigerate the falafel balls for atleast 10 minutes before frying so that the hold their shape while frying
  • Hummus should be covered with a layer of extra virgin olive oil to prevent it from drying, especially if you want to store it in fridge for a longer time
Happy cooking!
