Cinnamon Apple Topping




If you have apples lying around in your kitchen & do not known how to consume them before they go bad, then try this quick recipe.

Cinnamon Apple topping is a quick and easy condiment to go with your morning pancakes. You can also use it to make apple cakes and muffins. To use as an apple pie filling just ensure it is not too wet.

For this recipe all you need are apples of your choice. You can also use other fruits like bananas, peaches, etc.

Tips before cooking
  • Peel the apples before cooking
  • Do not overcook the apples, they should not become mushy
  • Add little water in beginning so that it does not become too watery
  • If using as a pie filling then allow water to evaporate. Do not keep it too wet

Ingredients

  • 2 medium size apples
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • Sugar as per taste
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 tablespoon Butter 
  • 4-5 tablespoon Water

Recipe

  • Take the apples, peel & dice them
  • Squeeze half a lemon juice on the apples
  • Add sugar as per taste (I used a mix of jaggery & brown sugar as it gives a better flavour)
  • Add 3-4 tablespoon water & a stick of cinnamon to it
  • Cover & cook till apples become soft but not too mushy
  • Add butter and mix
  • Check the consistency once apples are cooked
  • For pancake topping it should be syrupy
  • Serve with hot pancakes
